The iconic JEEPNEY. It was originally a military vehicle used in World War II. When the Americans began to depart The Philippines, the Jeeps were given/sold to the people. Filipinos began to use left offer scraps of metal to tweak the design- & some even took it a step further by tricking out their vehicles with crazy embellishments! Jeepneys are mostly used for public transportation and can, sometimes, fit up to 15 people at a time. It is said that the name is derived from the words Jeep & Jitney⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some of my most vivid memories from my childhood involve arriving in The Philippines to visit family & hopping into a Jeepney to get from Metro Manila to Nueva Ecija, Rizal. I remember tons of maroon fringe & holding onto my mom or dad for dear life. (There weren’t any seat belts & sometimes the drivers would rage on the roads trying to get to each passenger’s location in a timely manner.) 😂 I remember being amazed by the different decorations and designs on each Jeepney & feeling like we were home as soon as it pulled up to pick us up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyway, if I were to have my own Jeepney- this is the direction I would go. 😊️😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
